Welcome to the BarCamp Kathmandu wiki |
BarCamp Kathmandu 2009 is over
It was the first BarCamp ever held in Nepal. Thanks to all the participants and sponsors for making it hugely successful. Watch this space for updates on 2nd BarCamp Kathmandu. Send your suggestions, bring your ideas and get involved.
Nepal saw its first
BarCamp, Barcamp Kathmandu (bcktm09) on 8th August 2009 (Saturday) @ Yalamaya Kendra, Patandhoka, Lalitpur. The theme for bcktm09 was "Innovation for the Development of Nepal." We focused on unique and innovative ideas and initiatives from various fields with a vision to progress Nepal in their respective frontiers. However, innovative undertakings that did not meet this criteria were equally encouraged and welcome.
We will be organizing second BarCamp Kathmandu sometime in January/February of 2010. We hope to see you there. All attendees are encouraged to give a demo, a session, a presentation, or help with one. All attendees are expected to be participants. All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.
What is BarCamp? |
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.
It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event. BarCamp is a cool place for young, motivated and talented people to hangout. More importantly, it is where ideas get shared, created and advanced. This is not a formal gathering of black suits but an intense camp of those who strive to achieve.
BarCamp is in essence a conference without a preset agenda. We prefer the term 'unconference' actually. BarCamp is an 'unconference'- organized by attendees, for attendees. There is no audience, only participants. So host a session, help out with planning, ask questions, spread the word- Everybody is invited. There really are no walls.
BarCamp presents an opportunity to share and learn about interesting ideas, services or products with like-minded individuals. BarCamp could be a a platform for new, unique and innovative voices that would have gone unheard otherwise. Read More
